Patrol Division

The Patrol Division operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week and is comprised of four patrol squads working in one of two platoons.  As first responders, Patrol Officers are trained to respond to a variety of calls for service including medical assists, traffic accidents, domestic violence incidents and a number of other incidents.  The Patrol Division handles the bulk of calls for service from day to day.  Patrol Officers are tasked with enforcement of local ordinances, state laws, and traffic laws.  In addition to enforcement, Patrol Officers routinely patrol the town in marked police vehicles, conduct school foot patrols, and interact regularly with citizens with an emphasis on community policing.

About a third of the department has also had Crisis Intervention Training to address interactions with emotionally disturbed persons.  Officers in the Patrol Division are highly trained to assist the public in a professional and helpful manner.
